How we help Corporations and Interest Groups

There are many firms that assist employees in finding new job opportunities or in developing personal growth. These outplacement firms, career transition organizations, and executive coaches work with corporations, non-profits, government agencies and unions and focus on career development to help individuals develop new skills or secure employment

We utilize many of the same methods, skills and devices used by the firms above, but with a uniquely different audience, namely, we help individuals in corporations and other organizations initiate long or short term planning for retirement.  We contract to help large groups of employees make the transition into retirement. Following an employer’s decision to divest themselves of these individuals, we would facilitate the transition process.  For example, in advance of anticipated staff reductions or as part of a forced retirement program, we can contract with government agencies or unions, such as a teacher’s union or school district, to help teachers plan for their future years.

We meet with individuals on a case-by-case basis to ensure that each person is fully informed of their situation.  If the individual is in early or mid-career, planning would focus on examining competencies, researching alternative job opportunities, and branding or marketing to further one’s career through the writing of a resume or working on communication skills.

If an individual is in the later years of their career and is contemplating retirement, our work  would also examine competencies but with a focus on a different end result.  We work to help individuals determine how best to design a lifestyle that suits their personality, skills, interests and goals.  The question typically before the individual and our consultant is to clarify what they “prefer to do,” “want to do,” or “must do.”  Do they desire fulfillment, have a passion that needs to be met or do they need to work to maintain their financial well-being. The consulting relationship initially concentrates on the early retirement years and then quickly evolves into making specific commitments and taking action to bring their vision into reality.  This process involves completing assessments and having conversations/meetings/workshops or numerous one-on-one sessions to flesh out their needs and then to define specific actions that need to be taken to bring their future into focus.
