Burman/Strauss Retirement Consultants, Inc. was created for the purpose of developing products that would be beneficial to Boomers and others who are entering or already in retirement. Dee Burman and Don Strauss have over 80 years of combined work experience in the career transition management field. This includes working with individuals in the corporate world, in municipalities, in the military and in non-profits. They have advised executives, coached individuals about taking promotions or lateral assignments, and helped those who have lost their positions and are dealing with finding a new job.
With the initial 74 million Boomers rapidly aging and transitioning toward retirement, coupled with an economy that has become difficult, Burman and Strauss have witnessed first-hand the struggles that individuals are going through in deciding how to deal with the reduction in their income, as well as job loss. The retirement years in some form are coming quickly and decisions will need to be made relating to figuring out “what’s next”.
Burman/Strauss has run numerous workshops on subjects relating to change, job loss and retirement planning. It was thought best to take this experience and make it more generally available to the public. Toward that end, new reasonably priced products have been created.
As a first step, Burman and Strauss spent over 2 ½ years creating the book, Customize…don’t minimize…Your Retirement©. The book is based on their research and first-hand knowledge of the struggles people like you are going through. The book provides information about the changing world of retirement, but more importantly, it is unique in that it also provides dozens of self-assessments you can complete at your leisure. These self-discovery exercises will help you ascertain where matters stand relating to planning your retirement years. The goal is to identify possibilities and choices that will promote a happy, fulfilling retirement for you personally.
As an offshoot of that original product, a CD has been created that can be used on a desktop or laptop computer. The CD contains all the exercises from the book. Users can take it with them whenever they travel or whenever they wish to spend a few minutes contemplating their ideas about the various subjects that are presented.
Beyond their current products, Burman and Strauss plan to create games, white papers, and other products related to the retirement years. Additionally, Burman and Strauss manage a non-profit organization, the RetireRight Center, in downtown Chicago. At the RetireRight Center, they and their colleagues provide transition coaching and workshops for those clients who want to explore issues having to do with their future.
